Privacy Policy
Effective June 22, 2026
This policy explains how Shelfie handles information when you use the mobile application and website.
Information Shelfie handles
Inventory information—including item names, quantities, categories, storage locations, expiry dates, and movement history—is stored on your device. Preferences and reminder settings are also stored locally. When you sign in, this information, points, and saved recipes are synced to your private Supabase account so they can be restored on your other devices.
If you use Sign in with Apple, Shelfie receives the account identifier and any name or email address Apple makes available. Authentication is provided through Supabase.
Camera, barcodes, and receipts
Camera access is used only when you choose to scan a barcode or photograph a receipt. Receipt images are processed on-device using Apple text recognition and are not uploaded or retained by Shelfie.
A scanned barcode may be sent to the Shelfie catalog or Open Food Facts to find product information. If you voluntarily contribute a missing product, its name, brand, category, and barcode may be sent to the Shelfie service.
Recipes and notifications
Recipe suggestions use Apple's on-device language model when available. Inventory and food preferences used for those suggestions are not sent to Orpulus. Expiry and inventory-audit reminders are scheduled locally through Apple's notification system.
Sharing and tracking
Orpulus does not sell personal information, use third-party advertising, or track you across apps and websites. Information is shared only with service providers needed to operate features you choose, including Apple, Supabase, and Open Food Facts.
The Shelfie website does not use advertising trackers or analytics cookies. Your email application handles information you choose to send through a support request.
Retention and your choices
Local inventory remains on your device until you edit it, delete it, or remove the app. Signed-in inventory snapshots remain in Supabase until replaced by a newer snapshot or your account is deleted. Account records and voluntary catalog contributions may remain on our services as needed to operate Shelfie, maintain the shared catalog, comply with law, and resolve security or support issues.
You can decline camera and notification permissions and use Shelfie without signing in. Signed-in users can delete their account from Profile → Account. You may also request access to account information by contacting Orpulus.
Children
Shelfie is not directed to children under 13, and Orpulus does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy as Shelfie changes. Material updates will be reflected here with a new effective date.
